Apple has concluded its large-scale push notification developer testing. In a final notification sent to testers (below), Apple let AP News users know that they’d no longer be receiving notifications…until 3.0 was official at least.

Seems that the iPhone OS 3.0 PLUS the new iPhone will be out very soon, there won’t be much time between WWDC and when the phones are in the shop….
This message appeared on my iPhone when I launched the App last Tuesday (26th May) so it seems like pretty old news…
Yeah, it was at the same time that they released an update to v2 of the app which everyone complained about not working properly. I thought that was interesting because 3.0 worked so well.
I’m sure there was more going on behind the scenes, but it didn’t seem like they did a very heavy test. I got maybe 5-6 notifications and I really thought they needed to have options for receiving notifications on different topics or levels of news. Most apps aren’t going to send the same notification to all of its users the way AP news seemed to do.
