HP kills Palm brand, releases Veer, Pre 3 and TouchPad

I’ve liked the webOS since day one, but watching the liveblogs (Engadget’s in this case), we’re pretty hard-pressed to find any real innovation here.

Let’s start:

This is what HP has invented:

Not bad in the history of technology.  What have you done for us lately?  Oh, you had to buy Palm.

Moving on:

Ruby comes out and intros the Veer.  An even smaller phone than the Pre (which was already small).  It compres to a credit card in size.  You thought the Pre keyboard was too small?

Due in Spring. Kids and people with sharpened fingers (remember that?) need apply.

Next, the Pre 3. Looks pretty nice actually and impressive specs. When can we have it? Oh, summer? There’s another phone due that that will destroy this (see original Pre). Way to learn from experience.

And finally. The TouchPad, which like we’ve said before is an iPad with plastic back and a camera which we know is coming soon from Apple.

Again. We’re not disparaging webOS which is great and looks to be getting better, but we’re not seeing anything revolutionary here. Evolutionary is even a stretch as most of these devices are already surpassed, at least from a hardware spec perspective, by Apple, Windows and Android devices.
