That is BS to lead you guys off of the surprise announcement Jobs will pull in the next weeks.
I really expect him to come out in the early weeks of May and announce 2 new iPhone models ready to ship. Maybe first just in the online store or a few select countries/retailers, who knows. He will announce the iPhone unlocked for Europe/international at a higher price.
What Steve is announcing at WWDC is its new darling, the Newton, a bigger iPhone which will come hand in hand with 1000s of apps.
Why do you people forget about the big picture? This is not about some lame phone, this is the new handheld computer platform that will sell zillions and send Macroshaft to its obscurity.
Like iPods and the MBA, these handheld systems will operate as an extension of your home/office computer AND as a standalone system.
There will printers wirelessly compatible with the iTouch, cars/car radios ditto, your fridge, everything and anything. It'll be your smart remote, it'lllfit your home's blinders, toast your toasts - your kids will be compatible with the iTouch too!
I was at an ATT store this past friday switching to ATT from Verizon and the store manager and I were talking while we were doing all the switching etc and we got to talking iPhone and iPhone 3G. What he told me was that they have been told that the phone will be shipping to ATT stores in mid June and that there will be a one week delay between when the first Apple stores get them and when they will. I found this rather interesting that he would already know this much but he was pretty confident that they would be getting them in mid June at his store.
