Apple selects camera lens maker for iPad 2.0

You know you’ve got hot news when even non-news looks like news, and today’s non-news news is that a component manufacturer has been selected to provide the lens for the next-gen iPad 2.0 — but won’t confirm or deny the industry chatter.

“Largan Precision has declined to comment on market rumors indicating the company will be the sole lens module supplier for Apple’s upcoming iPad 2 tablet with shipments to kick off in the first quarter of 2011, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).”

Thus say the folk over at Digitimes, who sagely add that the firm already supplies 5-megapixel lens modules for iPhone 4 (above). There’s more on the iPad 2.0 here.
