Yeah… not really much to say, except that Apple’s videos about their competitors antenna performance have seemed to pull a Criss Angel, and disappear from the company’s website. It probably has to do with their unhappy rivals or maybe they want to pull Antennagate back into the spotlight for another round of press.

You can still try to find a glimpse of the videos at their official YouTube channel here.

Maybe motorola’s lawyers told Apple to take them down because no one can reproduce that Droid X issue.
NO, ANSWER IS OPPOSITE?????????????????????
THEY DON’T NEED PR ANY MORE??????????????????
WHY?
THE TRUTH HAS STARTED SPEAK OF ITSELF???????????????????
HEY, THE WORLD IS NOW SAYING,
” Apple, YOU HAVE BEEN SO RIGHT???????????? ”
” HEY, ALL THE AMERICAN PRESSES AND BOGUSS CONSUMER REPORTS, Ya HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY LIAR?????????????????????????”
FROM NORWAY:
?Norway’s largest paper: iPhone 4 Antennagate is a US ” Proper ” problem?????????????????????
After testing Apple’s iPhone 4 against competing HTC and Nokia models in a remote area on the edge of Norwegian carrier Telenor’s mobile coverage, the county’s largest paper has concluded that its antenna design is “just as good and bad as competitors,” rather than suffering any defect.

FROM AUSTRALIA:
?”I HAVEN’T dropped ANY call AT ALL nor noticed any impact on the device’s performance.
I even managed to watch a YouTube video over 3G while in the ” death grip.”
Stephen French said that call quality was EVEN improved over the iPhone 3GS, and he found that holding the handset in the “death grip” manner was unnatural.

FROM CANADA:
?DON’T believe the American Presses’ negative hype: iPhone 4 rocks???????????
I experienced no “Antennagate” reception issues over the past week—on both the Bell and Telus networks, by holding the iPhone 4 in a number of ways, and with and without the complimentary wraparound “bumper” being given away to appease concerned customers.

FROM?HONG KONG:
Antennagate won’t dampen iPhone 4 Seeker
? So we did our own test.
A case-free iPhone 4 from CSL yielded a five-bar signal during a phone call from Telecom Asia group editor Joseph Waring to your reporter.
So either Mr Waring was holding it right or not, the signal problems never experienced at all .
So, ” Antennagate ” issue in The US may have been blown out of proportion.
Other tech journos in Singapore and Hong Kong did a similar test yesterday with no signal problems at all?????????????????????
In any case, Antennagate isn’t likely to hurt the iPhone 4’s prospects in Asia or elsewhere, said Ovum principal analyst Tony Cripps in a research note Wednesday.

Eventhough I’ve tried every grip possible, including “DEATH GRIP “, with iPhone 4, the reception in Saudi Arabia is always good.

I live in rural New Zealand, and just upgraded from 3G to iPhone 4, I have no problems, generally reception is not great where I live but have found the iPhone 4 reception to be far better than my old iPhone 3G. I normaly never got 3G connection at home other than only in town, but now with my iPhone 4 I get 3G connection at home, I am really happy with the upgrade.

Picked up my iPhone 4 in Switzerland on Friday and have had absolutely no problems with reception and without bumper or case. Fabulous!
I can easily reproduce this on my Droid X. Not a big deal and it isn’t a big deal on my friends iPhone either so get over it.
lol I know. I’m so sick of hearing about this stupid antenna thing. I thought this was an Apple FAN site, not a Let’s-Make-Apple-Look-Bad Site. I wish we could read more interesting news that hasn’t been recycled from old stories ever since the end of June.
We like to think of it as a news site.
And I love you guys for it, though news is becoming more and more the wrong word to use, given the branches always leaning either left or right (to make an astounding generalization).
I’d like to think of it as a truth site. Report truth, not news. Straight facts, not an interpretation thereof. Speculation, sure, but not telling us what to think about a story and letting us think ourselves is what most media outlets seriously lack nowadays.
And I really love the site, but it just gets boring hearing about the same old news everyday. You guys aren’t the only ones…there’s plenty of other sites that post stories bashing Apple for one flaw. Hopefully it’ll all end soon.
Can’t wait for the next version of OSX so we can have fresher news!
Wtf?? Do you guys expect this site to NOT report on these things? What kind of news site would they be, if they didn’t report on the NEWS. Don’t get mad at the messenger, get mad at the dickheads who made this into a news story to begin with. That certainly wasn’t 9to5.
I’m glad they post these articles, because thats EXACTLY why I come to this site. To get the Apple related stories for the day. And whether you like it or not, these are Apple related stories. If you think 9to5 is “Apple bashing” simply because they are posting Apple news stories that aren’t ideal for Apple, then you’re an idiot.
However, if 9to5 once again made some kind of wiseass remark against Apple, and then edited it out like they always do, then I take back everything I just said. Seems like Mark tends to be the one who does it the most.
I appreciate the site’s content. I don’t appreciate some of the commentators who attack anyone with the slightest bit of criticism for Apple. I don’t like trolls any more than the next guy, but there are legitimate criticisms to level against Apple. That’s not 9to5mac’s issue — it seems like all Apple fan sites require a certain devotion to the cause…
Novatek. If you have a Droid X, Steve Jobs uses a Kin.
@Seth: not even Microsoft would use a Kin. That POS was DBA (Dead BEFORE Arrival). Let’s just hope this isn’t like Win Phone 7. The marketplace could use some competition, and Android just isn’t enough. Competition means the consumer wins with more choice, and faster platform development, whichever camp you like to end up in.
I think it’s a good idea to have pulled it down. IMO – it’s unprofessional. It’s almost as if Apple was telling consumers “we suck, but they suck too, see?”
It sucks because they are telling the truth about physics and people have to come to a sad realisation that we are powerless against the physical laws.
I see that you took out “or they could have realized the iPhone 4 is the problem not the competing devices. Naa!” line. Good!!! As early folks have commented, the focus and quality of content here has slid. Sarcastic jabs or bias opinion isn’t valued content. I can read the forums or blog comments for this.
It’s likely that 90% of Apple iPhone users never stray from main stream news sources, (they are typical average joes) and the antenna story is over. It’s still kept alive on blogs and enthusiasts sites, but that’s just a small portion of users. Typical consumer will get info from Apple’s website and from friends who have iPhones. If friends report it’s not an issue, then no reason to remind visitors on your site to second-think. Apple wanted to make its point and move on. I mean you think they would leave it up there forever???
“No reason to make others second think”
Are you a member of an Apple? IIn a communist country?
You expect Apple to leave the videos on their site forever? What morons…. Apple made their point and now it’s time to move on.
The best made most capable smartphone is the iPhone 4. Droid and the rest are still trying to catch up with inferior quailty…..
Game set and match
Agreed. Apple’s demonstrated their point. No point in helping the competition advertise their smartphones on Apple’s site.
I’m going to vote with almost everyone else here and say I’m getting kind of tired of these biased psuedo-articles from Seth (and others) as well.
If this is a news site, then you guys should behave a little more like journalists (just a bit). You’ve strayed in recent months (lets say since Apple got popular all of a sudden), and it’s really noticeable.
Take this very article. You report the facts at the top (the videos were removed) then you immediately jump into personal commentary (it was because of their rivals), based on nothing at all. The standard approach to these kinds of pieces journalistically speaking is to present the evidence first, talk about all the possible reasons why it might be so and then add what *you* think it might be at the end. You should also be fair to each proposition.
Instead, the barest facts are reported in a single sentence at the top, and the entire balance of the article is semi-humourous personal remarks from Seth.
I think you guys are both smart and funny, but the yuks and the opinions are no substitute for truth, honesty and actual news.
- Please stop wearing the obvious distaste you guys seem to have for the way Apple has acted lately on your sleeves.
- Please try to stay closer to the facts and report the truth of the matter before you jump in with the opinions.
- Please go outside and smell some flowers and try to shake the idea that Apple is somehow evil now.
They aren’t. That’s just a horribly childish approach to take to the news.
