this is ridiculous. i feel like Apple is rushing everything just to get the annual new iPhone model released in time.
I’m going to call BS on this one.
with all the recent number of “huge” problems(/s) with the iphone 4, it would only seem “obvious” that Apple rushed this although it’s hard to say how long they’ve been working on this model. personally, i haven’t had any issues with both of our iphone 4′s at home. no yellow screen changes, no bizarre signal bar changes. of course, we live in chicago so the ATT signal is usual 5 bars anyway.
The only thing “rushed” are the numerous articles, one after another, which seem fairly sensationalistic at best. sorry, but i’m not saying it’s impossible that the buttons were not assembled backwards, but i’m being doubtful thomas on this one!
This maybe a quick and dirty photoshop job.
Wonder why the video is so blurry and doesn’t show the buttons?
LET’S SEE THE VIDEO WITH THE REVERSE BUTTONS CLEARLY 0_0
So much for Quality Inspection.
This is nothing to do with Quality but simply SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS TESTING.
You just need to re-conceptualize the buttons as: more quiet (+) and less loud (-)
Exactly my thoughts. People are so stuck inside these perceptual boxes that they force everything to fit into. Open up your minds and embrace!
My bad. I should have said: more quiet (+) and less quiet (-)
^ Less loud = More quiet.
1.5m new phones sold yeaterday. How about some “view” from the majority of users rather than the anomalies. Maybe Apple and Foxconn screwed up some phones. Use the damn thing until Apple can gets u a new one which they will do with a smile. This thing is awesome!
Good point. Especially as we hear reports that not all iPhones suffer signal loss when held in a certain way, what percentage are affected? It would be nice to hear some reports from people whose phones are working great with no problems.
You are just holding it wrong!
Nope. Sorry but that is not an Apple joke quite yet for anything critical of their products. Go to Jail. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass go.
When stamps or coins are made with errors, they become more valuable. I think the same thing should be true for iPhones.
No, they become more retarded.
not really because you can switch the buttons on another phone
Interesting sign of the times when we start think a 10 year old smartphone with incorrect keys might be a collectors item. Not to many people collecting old cell phones and I don’t think the iPhone 4 is really that big a leap in technology to make it special. Ask people what they are doing with their old iPhones once they have upgraded…probably just junking them or giving them away. Techno-geeks these days think of today and tommorrow not yesterday. They have to have the latest app that they just can’t live without. They have to stream video to a 4 inch screen and yet maock anyone who doesn’t have a 50 inch screen at home.
None of us predicted this, but I think it’s time to acknowledge Apple, for the first time ever, released a poorly designed phone. Hang on to your 3GS.
This situation reminds me a lot of Windows XP vs Vista and how people downgraded from Vista to XP. I’m starting to think iPhone 4 is Apple’s Windows Vista.
i dont see anything beside the top button making it louder and bottom making it softer? whats the problem? Do you mean Labeled wrong? If so this could be just a few from one batch. Foxxconn makes the iphone and maybe with all thats going on over there the workers are distracted? who knows. I know this happens even with the 3g. just google 3gs defect. Every cell phone in production has at least one defective batch and maybe this is one of them. If you goole nexus one defects or or droid defects youll see what i mean.
I have a 32gb iPhone 4 and it doesn’t have any issues, works great. If I really try hard I can lower the amount of bars, but during normal usage I haven’t had any issues. I’ve used FaceTime with a friend, every now and then the video image would freeze for a second or two but that was due to their crappy WiFi network.
Out of the MILLIONS of iPhone 4s being manufactured and sold, it seems like all of these sensationalized ‘problems’ are well within the normal range of quality control issues that any product will have. Volume keys installed upside down? Oh well, I’m sure the overworked and underpaid Foxconn worker that made that mistake after having been worked around the clock to meet demands did it on purpose to piss off us greedy Apple customers. Mistakes happen, sadly I see this sort of thing ending very badly for some workers in the factories. A small mistake and they probably will lose their job over the fact that the + and – symbols were in the wrong spot.
Any product that is produced in such high quantities will have a percentage that have defects or issues, we just need to live with it.
Well I just say that my NEW iPhone 4 is great nothing wrong with it all! Trying to see this signal thing happen but its not i grabbed the place people said it was at and no lose actually mind went up haha!! But ya its the best Smartphone I have ever had!!! But I think it fun how everyone GOES CRAZY when one person says they have problem and then there all sudden there all tons of people saying the same thing with there iPhone and then everyone is saying Apple failed and all this stuff. Apple is always under the SPOT LIGHT like no other company and a lot of people just DON”T LIKE apple at all for really no go reason so they make try to find every little thing. Oo and don’t for get there is probably like over 1 million + sold yesterday!! Soo I don’t call it a fail. Plus Gizmodo DOESN”T LIKE APPLE AT ALL!! So there just out to find everything they possibly can!! ( Just like i don’t like gizmodo anymore!!) ha. Last thing I call something a fail if the percent of the people with a issue is really high compare to the none problems ones or unless the problem is hurting the people or they are getting injured by the products!! AKA like “Toyota”… The percent of people around here is so far ZERO i talked to a lot of my friend and tons of people and went even went to the Apple store and talked to there staff and other people just in the store and around who had iPhone 4 and NO had a problem. The only problem I saw there was they HAD NO more iPhones for people!!!
I’m a big fan of Apple however I now question that. My new (expensive) iPhone 4 has a signal problem so it won’t work at home (previous 3GS is fine). Took it back to O2 (in the UK) however they can’t exchange it as they don’t have any. They suggested I try the local Apple store !!! Went to Apple and due to demand they couldn’t do a warranty exchange until Weds (its Fri today).
Totally useless, so I’ve cancelled the O2 contract and gone back to my trusted 3GS. I might look at the IPhone 4 when they’ve sorted out all the issues and the prices have dropped.
Thought Apple were better than this, little better than Microsoft Mr Jobs !!
HTC wins again….
I think you are all forgetting for the price of the damned thing there should be a single defect. ok a few are allowed but when you combined the weak glass, the yellowing (I know its a temp issue) the bad signal and even this minor volume button problem its just wrong.
if you are paying between £500 ($752.55) and £600 ($903.06) it should be perfect and nothing but. If the phone was half that price even then I don’t think this many defects would be acceptable.
But once again because its Apple for some reason the normal rules don’t apply
