I dunno about the iPad, but it’s utterly trivial to reset your iPhone / iPod touch to its usual state. Every update clobbers a jailbroken iPhone into normalcy.
Nobody’s popping open their device and playing around with a soldering iron. Nothing is “bricked”. If your warranty is technically voided, it can be un-voided in a matter of minutes.
How many morons does it take to figure out that jailbreaking isn’t permanent?

You think you’re really cool for knowing better than this guy, don’t you? But maybe you should go learn some new words before getting all smarmy on someone. Trivial, defined by my Dictionary application on OS X:

So, your usage of the word “trivial” is incorrect.
Also, usage of the word”utterly” isn’t the best in this case.
A better way to write the sentence:

Congratulations on removing all the sarcasm out of the original sentence, along with the posters method of expressing his expression of annoyance. Maybe you should get a pocket protector next … it is very common for the word trivial to be used to describe how easy or simple it is to accomplish a task. You will find this happens with words often in the English language, so adaption is key!. Its called ‘getting hip with the lingo’, try it sometime!
Whereas I don’t doubt geohot will hack the ipad in short order, booting in verbose mode isn’t really that hard – you just force it into the bootloader and add -v… When iphone os 2.0 came out for a long time that’s all we *could* do.
It’s *far* more significant he’s managed to extract the keys, which means he’s gone a lot further than a simple verbose boot.
I want it! Especially since I feel betrayed by apple for delaying the ipad os 4.0 software update until the fall……totall bs. Just have to jailbreak now.

No-one outside of the iPad team would have even known it existed, not even the iPhone OS team, and there would have been almost no cross-development between the two teams for the sake of secrecy. The iPad was targetted at an existing release of the iPhone OS for exactly this reason. Now that both the iPad and iPhone OS 4 are out in the open, there will be a unification release of 4.1 later in the year that covers iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch.
Certain people who care to think before opening their mouth also think this is what will happen.

You won’t see this Jailbreak for months. He has to completely go through the system and test it over and over again to make sure he has it broken 100% before he releases it.

You jailbreak your *iPhone* then use an app like MiWi to creative a WiFi hotspot that you tether your iPad to.

Wrong. Not if you know what Google is. I was forced up to 3.1.3, but im back on 3.1.2 on JB’d, yes with AT&T service, yes with new baseband.
My phone was jailbroken before. But I accidentally upgrade to 3.1.3 and got stuck with it.
How can I downgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2? I tried Googling, and obviously I’m not good with it.

MiWi does work really well wit my iPad also. No need to give away another $30 per month to AT&T
In my experience with MyWi and the iPad thus far, it works better than the iPhone does with its own connection. Safari is twice as fast, if not faster, than iPhone Safari, when Sharing the iPhone’s 3G connection. Which is unbelievably great to say the least.
