I’m definitely not buying it now for the exact same reasons Matt Buchanan was talking about. I’m really glad I waited to buy the 3GS and I will do the same with the iPad.

I’m glad I got the original iPhone when I did. My friends were holding out to get the 3G and loved it when they got it. I told them “yeah and I had these cool things for a year now while you waited”! Then I got the 3GS when it came out and my friends are on the fence again because they know how good the 3GS is but it’s not a huge improvement over their 3G. So they are waiting for the next model while I get to play with the fastest iPhone out for another year
So I agree with the other poster. Forget about the Rev A stuff and just buy it if it’s what you want now! It may not be perfect but it’s better then nothing at all since you already know you want one. Just not the first one.
Please don’t start playing video immediately on page load. We may not want to see or hear it, or be in a place where we CAN listen.
There’s an easy solution to that. Just use ClickToFlash. Problem solved.
I’m waiting until it has Flash and Multitasking. Might never happen, so I might never buy it.
It’s not acceptable that the iPad doesn’t offer the option of installing any plugin you want, such as Flash, just like you can do in a computer.
Yeah. You will be waiting forever. Multi-tasking? Maybe… probably not exactly like Mac OS X or Windows but in some incarnation. Flash? Ha! Not anytime soon – if ever. Oh, and the iPad isn’t a “computer”.
Speaking of business expense, you think I can write this off as a business expense as long as I review it on my own blog which I use to garner traffic to my site? Or at least if I buy it for the primary purpose of scheduling my business, it’ll work as a business expense right?
I’m on the fence on this. On one hand I’m a hard core tech geek at heart and I’m usually on the bleeding edge. On the other, this economy has hit me specially hard and I’ve already had to cut back on some spending.

I simply cannot justify a closed environment as a work expense. To me it is a toy for home users, and that’s o.k. I still use computers for, you know, work, and therefore they really can’t be (a) closed and (b) so limited in disk space. Had Apple come out with a full OSX version I’d be waiting in line. Perhaps they will evolve it that way or perhaps Apple is tiring of desktops and laptops.
Uhm… yeah ok. If you don’t want a closed computing device that’s fine, but don’t pretend that it’s a toy because it’s closed. Most “business” computers are locked down by IT departments far tighter than an iPad or iPhone.
If you want an OS X tablet, Axiotron makes them – go buy one.
Auto-play on videos can suck it.
I bought a 1st generation iPod Touch in Sept of 2007. I still use it daily and admire its utility and longevity. While I would love to have an external speaker, faster processer and external volume control, none of these features diminish the value of being able to use the device for 2.5 years. I suppose I could have waited, but then lost a year or two of utility? I agree with other posts, if the current feature set is worth the MSRP to YOU, buy it! You will love it and enjoy it longer for those features for a longer period of time than those who wait (yawn). Good luck to all with your decision.
II don’t know if I can trust a show where the latest Macs they have are G4s.

I will be ordering iPad today. I expect to do most of my creative work with it. The form with touch could give a nice experience if Apple execution is a success. I will not replace my desktop or laptop with iPad because they do things it can not do but on the other side, I think iPad can provide an experience traditional computers can not. To move objects with fingers is for me a very different experience from typing — a right brain experience that is more like play. I believe some day this will be one of the main ways to use computers. I have tried the HP solution and for me, it is not done right — it is not “comfortable” or fun. As to iPad, we shall soon see if Apple has found the answer.
Sorry but no mention of the Notion Ink Adam during that segment is pretty awful. The Adam tablet clearly has an edge over the iPad yet no one talks about it. Sure, it doesn’t have an App store like Apple’s, but Android users do have a good selection of applications out there.
If there’s one thing that life has taught me, it’s NEVER be an early adopter.
