We’re not putting our hat in the ring to say this is true or false, but figured it may be worth putting out a heads-up that Softpedia claims the next Snow Leopard upgrade could lope out as soon as “tomorrow”, or perhaps within “hours”.

From the report: “Softpedia has reason to believe Apple is very close to releasing Mac OS X 10.6.3 to the public in under 12 hours. The most recent builds seeded to developers stand as evidence that development has followed a straight line, with few impediments.

“To their knowledge, developers see no issues in the focus areas they

  1. Carl says:

Well the software update app is stuck on loading… maybe this means they are updating the content on it with 10.6.3 ?? I’m hoping! :D

  2. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Launching an update on a Sunday? I doubt it. Monday or Tuesday maybe, but not Sunday.

  3. Mo says:

Software update doesn’t work here too.

  4. Ash says:

Works fine for me and no updates. Running 10.6.2 right now.

  5. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I think it would be more interesting if you provided some proven information about the contents of this upgrade instead of doing what you do best: provide information you are not sure about yourself.

  6. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Software-Update works fine for me, because no Mac OS X 10.6.3?!?!? I mean that Apple releases 10.6.3 on Monday or Thursday between 10:25 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.

  7. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Software Update not showing anything for me — because I’m still running Leopard and will wait for the beta testing to continue.

  8. 9to5Mac Noob says:

A software update being pushed out on a Sunday or Monday morning? No way. Apple has smarter people working there than that.

If they do something this weird, then something very big is up and people should dig through the binaries to see what new products are represented in there.

  9. Not Steve Jobs says:

1:00 p.m. (post meridian) central here in Texas, no updates available on Software Update. I’m on 10.6.2.

    • DCJ001 says:

Thanks for filling us in as to what P.M. means. I would have been wondering about that for the rest of the day.

Actually, it stands for “post meridiem,” in case you ever need to know for Jeopardy, etc.

      • Sedulous Ape says:

Umm, while “meridiem” is both impressive in its dead-languagedness and its correctness, “meridian” is perfectly acceptable.

  10. Macshizzle says:

I heard from a “source” at Apple that MacBook Pro were also being released on a Sunday.

  11. 9to5Mac Noob says:

On the P.M. Thread hijack, you are both right.

Post Merediem is the correct latin (4 years of latin pays off, thanks Mrs. Hollerbach!)

but postmeridan is also correct, and will show an etymology of … post merediem!

    • Chrup says:

13:00h works just fine for me. And no, I’m not military, never was – just European.
And there is no update for me either, nor do I need one right now, everything works just fine :) .

  12. Cespur says:

A “source” told me Apple is gonna release a PC version of Mac OSX.

  13. 9to5Mac Noob says:

A “source” told me that Apple is going to be filing for bankruptcy.

  14. iBillGates says:

a “source” told me that Steve Ballmer will be the next apple CEO

  15. tony says:

Just checked and nothing. No new update at least right now.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

A “source” told me you should check again.

      • macspirit says:

An even more reliable source revealed to me the recent elopement of Taylor Swift and Kanye West. Additional reports have them honeymooning at Yellowstone National Park, where they will be working feverishly on their new album of calypso-tinged Beach Boys classics.

  16. 9to5Mac Noob says:

UPDATE IS LIVE ! I’m downloading it now !

  17. Seth:9to5Mac says:

UPDATE 1: Downloads are available in the Asian areas only. Expect other areas soon.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

i am in japan and it didn’t show up in software update. then again, japan is just america’s quebec so maybe it doesn’t count as asia.

  18. 9to5Mac Noob says:

    yeah right!

  19. steven says:

Who needs 10.6.3? Not that big of a deal!

  20. Seth:9to5Mac says:

Update 2: Downloads are available for the West African Region, sources tell me the North American Region to be the last on the chain.

  21. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I just updated and my machine shows 10.7??

  22. 9to5Mac Noob says:

WELL as at New Zealand time of 9.27 pm nothing on software update running 10.6.2

  23. carl says:

I’m sure this analyst will come back and say, “Its avaliable in hours!”

and he will continue to do so untill they actually do, maybe by the weeks end he’ll get one right.

  24. Bill says:

    Nothing in New Jersey yet

  25. 9to5Mac Noob says:

    Its here! w00t…

  26. Larry - 9to5Mac Noob says:

None available yet here at 11:30 EST. Not sure when it might drop for real, eh?

  27. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Really? Hours? It is 9am on the 16th now (Japan time) and still nothing. I think Apple has decided to quit making an OS and leave it at 10.6.2 for the rest of eternity.

  28. Kyjo4 says:

Well, guess that source didn’t pan out. It’s nearing midnight now which will make it the 16′th and it’s still not out. I’ve been looking forward to this release too as my Macbook’s been stuck with a few bugs.

  29. 9to5Mac Noob says:

    Where is this freaking update?

  30. lucas says:

so where is the Update? What the hell are they waiting for?

  31. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Another loser rumor from MAC 9to5

  32. Bill says:

Still no update in New Jersey

  33. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Apple released 10.6.3 at the end of March, not the middle of Feb. I refuse to listen to speculation and guess work.
