It’s Jobs’ “nemesis”!
When he made the Macintosh for the rest of us and conceived the Mac Office… media said the “Macintosh is a toy.”
When he made the iPhone as a Troyan horse to conquer the business world… it becomes the platform of choice for games.
And the iPad? It will conquer Las Vegas or the porno industry!

No, not at the expense of the Wii! I just got one for Christmas! Hmpfh.
Yikes, that sounds terrible. Clearly the next generation iPhone is going to need a sound generation chip to keep up. The graphics are there already, motion sensing is clean enough to use, but that sound – that is horrific.
What’s wrong with the sound on the iPhone?
Almost 100% of morden game sound are “played” not “generated” on-the-fly these days.
It’s good to know that the world’s greatest technology spurs development of the world’s most puerile activities.
What do you prefer?
That’s the wonderful thing about statistics, it can be used to prove anything that is even remotely true. I don’t think Nintendo is shaking yet. No one makes mention of the quality of these “game developers”. Article doesn’t make mention of their reputations. If it were Capcom. Square etc, I would be worried. Not so much so about some guys in their bedrooms.
The PSP and DS are certainly in Apple’s sights. The iPhone and Touch clearly compete well with these handhelds. The fact is that a LOT of kids have a Touch, and more kids are going to have them in the years to come.
Sony, tech-wise, seems to be holding the PSP back. Nintendo traditionally had a great position with the older demographic – I imagine that the iPhone and perhaps Android is resulting in a severe erosion for Nintendo in that segment.
If I were selling games (and I’m not), I’d think the iPhone/Touch platform would be the platform to be on. There’s just a much larger, much broader customer base for the iPhone and Touch versus the PSP or the DS. Both Sony and Nintendo need to step up their game if they want to continue to compete.
I think the “at the expense of the Wii” was a typo anyway, when you read further its the other portable devices like the PSP and the NDS that are mentioned and that makes sense, the “Wii” being mentioned makes no sense in the article at all.
I love the iPhone and the Wii, if Apple and everyone else is honest, the whole games thing is a bonus, I mean Apples original stance was not to even allow any apps to be developed outside of Apple until they saw the success of the toolchain created by the hackers!
Having said that, the way the App store and gaming on the iTouch & iPhone has exploded, its one hell of a nice bonus to have for a product
