Gonna wait a year to get a front camera, more memory and a bit cheaper ;)

    • The Adjudicator. says:

Precisely what I was thinking about doing. Plus, I was sorta saving for an Iphone 4th gen (got a 32Gb iPod touch 1G on its’ last legs and a doddery dumbphone)
I’ll probably end up getting the 3rd iteration or similar.

On an unrelated note, why no Mini DisplayPort adapter!?

      • Ethan says:

“On an unrelated note, why no Mini DisplayPort adapter!?”

From the iPad ‘Design’ page: “And through a range of accessories, iPad can play your content on TVs, projectors, and displays.”

        Expect such an adapter.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

Dito. I’ll get one when it can iChat and has more memory.

    • Funkonaut says:

I learned my lesson as an iPhone early adopter and will wait for iPad 2nd Gen with a faster processor, camera, refined design (flat back for tabletop typing), and faster 3D graphics chip.

      • 9to5Mac Noob says:

        I am so with you.

        • 9to5Mac Noob says:

For tabletop typing there’s that iPad case, that tilts it slightly. Seems pretty sleek, but we’ll have to wait and see. But on that note, I don’t think they’ll give it a flat back.
I’m also waiting for 2nd Gen. Bought the 2nd Gen iPod Touch and am very happy with it, will probably buy the next gen iPhone if I like it.

      • Aaargh! says:

Definitely. If I’ve learnt one thing from experience, it’s NEVER buy first generation ANYTHING- especially where Apple’s concerned.
It really does look a promising product, though. Maybe I’ll get a third gen., flash drives should have incresed sufficiently in size by then.

      • Ethan says:

I know not everyone is in the financial position to justify this (though I am not exceptionally wealthy), but my attitude with Apple’s mobile OS X devices (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) is that I cannot have too many. These devices are so capable in terms of software that their utility is limitless. So here’s what I will do:

I’ll buy the first generation, Wifi only for my personal use (I don’t want the extra upfront or ongoing expense of 3G right now, though GPS is a nice addition with these models, and my iPhone will accomplish my mobile data needs for now). Then I will buy a second generation Wifi+3G to replace my 1st Gen, at which point the 1st Gen will be delegated to home tasks, such as a guest computer, home automation controller (look up Indigo for Insteon devices), etc. I’m currently using my old 1st Gen iPod Touch for the same thing, since it has been replaced by my iPhone for my own personal use.

You can always think of new ways to use these old devices – they practically never wear out. For example, at whatever point my 1st Gen iPad is replaced, my iPod Touch will become an in-wall remote/controller for Apple TV, house lighting, etc.

Even if you’re not into home-automation, there are so many applications that you’re bound to find a way to continue getting your money’s worth out of a mobile OS X device well after it has been replaced.

Like I said, that’s just my attitude toward these devices and upgrade paths. I know that when I replace my devices they will not go to waste.

      • 9to5Mac Noob says:

        u forgot mulittasking

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

same here. I have the ipod touch 32 gig first gen and its definitely behind now and can’t even run some games i.e. gta at all. While it will probably be ridiculously hard to wait that long for the second gen iPad to come out, i think it will definitely be worth it. For sure they will have a camera for iChat capability, and a faster processor to run it too. also, the memory in the current devices is just way too low.. im kinda surprised they could only fit in the same amount of space as in the way smaller ipod or iphone.. surely they could have boosted it to 128 with two 64 gig chips?

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

i will achieve the desired effect, at a considerable savings, by simply looking at my ipod touch through a magnifying glass.

  2. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Needs peripheral connectivity, a la USB.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

It has a USB port, along with an SD card port – both with inexpensive adapters. Don’t forget this thing also has bluetooth, so connectivity is no issue at all…

  3. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I’d be interested in one if they add a front facing camera.

  4. 9to5Mac Noob says:

YES, if there is a build-in-front-camera when they start selling… if hey do so, it would be THE revolutionary, killer video-chat-device and a MY MUST-Have reason.

  5. papasmurf says:

need confirmation of multitasking [os v 4, i hope], push pops, ipad dedicated apps, ipad games …

also needs SD card & front facing camera, then nothing would touch it to be honest … and drop the 2 versions , stick the 3g card in the default product … ill pay a few quid more for that …

  6. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Maybe when he have build-in-front-camera, wi-fi model must have gps and sync with iphone.

  7. 9to5Mac Noob says:

This look like something that would be nice to bring along on a trip to keep in touch with family/friends… but I am not sure it would be a right fit. When I go on vacation I need something to quickly use to dump my photos, do some quick editing, put in an email and send. The thing with the iPad is that I am not convinced it can be used to properly interface with camera out there… and what about importing HD movies from my Flip Mino HD, do a quick edit, convert and upload to youtube/vimeo? Not convinced either. And disk space is quickly going to be an issue. I mean, I have 2 16GB SDHC mem cards in my 500D DSLR to hold pictures/HD clips. There is no way I can back those up on the iPad to keep shooting more… even if it had 64GB of memory. A hard drive option would be necessary.

It also lack flash and like it or not but accessing web sites on a large screen without getting that flash bits will suck. I can leave without it on the iPhone but on a 10 inch tablet… unacceptable. Even the demo Steve gave looked awkward with the missing plugin icon… almost like he just wanted to quickly move away from those pages with flash to hide the fact that it provided a poor browsing experience on those pages. If this thing has such a great CPU than put flash on it… but maybe Apple does not want you to look at hulu video… they would rather you buy TV shows off the iTunes store…

So for me this is not the right device to bring along on the road. My trusty Mini 10v will do better… even if Steve claim that netbook are just cheap inferior laptops. They still offer more on the road than the iPad.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

Sounds like a proper laptop with a large hard drive is a better bet for you!

On the subject of Flash though, I don’t mind its exclusion as it is a resource hog on OS X and the source of a lot of crap on the web. This is a good opportunity for web developers and online media providers to embrace HTML 5 open standards and I hope that there will start to be a move away from Flash on the web.

  8. terry says:

i agree with all the shortcomings noted except multitasking doesn’t seem as important to me as to others.

    I’ll be buying the 64GB 3G model.

Does anyone remember how long after the iPhone’s MWSF introduction and before its June release, they began taking orders?

    • FineTunes says:

I think that if you wait you might be able to get a 128 Gb model. If they use the same NAND chips as the iPhones and iPod Touch then Toshiba just come out with a new 64 Gb NAND.

  9. 9to5Mac Noob says:

i wanted it for magazines, and i wanted to be able to spotlight search thru all the magazines etc to find articles and things i was looking for. When they support a large line up of magazine, particularly body building magazines i will grab one.

also i wish he commented on eye strain, ie we use low back light mode when reading books so their is less eyestrain or something

    • DistortedLoop says:

I think the eye strain arguments are over played. I spend as many as 8-12 hours per day staring at a MacBook Pro 15″ glossy screen with no eye strain issues; and I imagine *most* people don’t really see much benefit from e-Ink over LCD in that regard.

And yes, the bulk of my staring at a MacBook Pro is spent READING. Reading blogs, reading news, reading forums, reading email, reading chat messages. Reading, reading, reading, and reading.

Just not a big deal to me.

      • 9to5Mac Noob says:

I get really annoyed when people downplay eyestrain. Different people have different eyes. If you don’t encounter eyestrain, good for you. Others aren’t so fortunate.

  10. FineTunes says:

I think that the iPad will be great for some users, but for now I have my MBP and will wait for 2G or 3G. I always wait to until anything new gets better–took me a long time before I got my iPod 4G–still going strong. It is still a great product–way to go Apple. Hope that responders to this thread keep politics and rude comments out. Nothing gets accomplished by bashing each other. Also remember that this is not for everyone–no computer or OS is.

I just wish it had handwriting recognition.. something I could use in the university seminars, take down notes using different colors, or highlight e-text books.

I have an iPhone 3GS, will get the 4G in june, a MBP and a 23″ samsung LED display, so this doesn’t serve my purpose any way..

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

there will be an app for that – you betcha!!!

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

you want a netbook, my friend, or an actual tablet *computer*. don’t believe the hype. you will never get acrobat or a proper bibliography manager like zotero (for example) running on this little toy, and syncing it through itunes will be an annoyance when there’s real work to be done.

  14. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Will wait for multitasking; flash; usb or SD card slot; front facing camera; mic and more storage. Then I’l be first in line!

  15. JeFurry says:

I’ll probably get the 64GB non-3G version, unless the UK 3G deals are really good. I very much hope that I can pair the iPad over Bluetooth with my existing iPhone 3G, and get 3G that way — since Apple don’t actually make money from the 3G on the iPad, it would seem daft not to allow bluetooth networking.

But that’s just one of a number of questions we are waiting to get answered, along with whether iBooks will make it to the UK, and whether you can import existing ePub files, etc.

  16. 9to5Mac Noob says:

hmmm with the camera accessory you get SD slot and also a USB port… the USB is meant to hook into a camera, but there’s no hardware reason that couldn’t hook into other things… maybe a hard drive. It would at that point be down to software to handle it…interesting thought..

I also agree with others… although I’ll buy one as I want to write apps for it. I would really like to have seen a front facing camera for video conferencing.. Not interested in a back facing camera.. I have real camera and iphone for take photos..

  17. OldDude says:

Buying 3. I don’t care about or even want a camera, Flash support, or multitasking. Seems perfect as-is.

  18. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Wow, many more of you must be into video conferencing than me or anyone else I know. I did it once with my iMac for the novelty value, but haven’t done it since, and most people I’ve spoken to about it prefer voice or text only. Each to their own of course, and your mileage may vary etc, but to me the lack of a camera is irrelevant.

I’m far more concerned with iBooks and how/when it will be available in the UK. Widespread publisher support, including academic and journal publishers, combined with good pricing structures will do it for me. If it’s not there at UK launch, then I’ll wait till it is.

    • Matthew says:

I use webcam with Skype to speak to my parents who live abroad, so for that purpose (speaking with and seeing friends and family) I would find a front-facing camera useful. Quite like the idea of lounging around with an iPad on skype rather than with a computer on my lap :o )

  19. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I’m based in the UK and I’ll probably wait for the second generation model before buying. However, if anyone in the family makes it over to the States late this year then I might take advantage of the consistantly better US prices and get a wifi model, just to have around the house.

My two-year-old loves playing on my iPhone but won’t be able to negotiate the i/o on a laptop or desktop for a couple more years, so the nice big touch screen and fluid user experience on the iPad would be perfect for her to play with and develop her skills.

  20. Adam says:

Don’t forget that this device is intended for Auntie Dorris. She doesn’t know how to use a computer, let alone understand multitasking. And she doesn’t really really really need the camera. But she’d like to put some of the files she downloads from the internet (remember, they keep on telling us it’s all about the internet) on a removable flash disk or SD card…

  21. Really? says:

    No camera for ichat. COMMON!
64 Gigs for all of your pics music and created content? I carry around over 100 gigs of pics and music. Of course the 100 gigs of data I carry around does not include books which I would enjoy and 00000000 apps which are what I think I would like the most about the ipad. I am sorry, How long ago did the ipod touch come out with the same gig size options? Keep in mind technology doubles every 18 months.

I do love the product! But Steve you did not make this for me or any of my friends. You made this for my parents 70+ years old with only family pics and 20 songs.

I suppose you also want me to convince them to buy your product.

Sorry dude I’m not selling till I get what I want first!!! After all I am the one who has been waiting for 20 years for this.

I am bitter. So sue me.

  22. Tlgraham says:

I’d rather spend the extra bit of cash and get a fully functional macbook laptop for $999 and tether to my iphone for free via JB!

  23. kotis says:

I don’t see the utility in a camera, while I think it makes sense given it is an ubiquitous feature in devices, I don’t know anyone that uses them other than as a novelty. What I find perplexing is that there is no USB, no Flash (is this likely to be provided as a software upgrade), no multi-tasking (will the 4G iPhone have this, if so, then should we expect it here?), will it be possible for the iPad to use storage on the network if so, 64G is sufficient. Importantly, can I print?

I envision a lot of people sitting in front of their TV with their iPad. (I would have it on my lap for an hour in the morning, two hours in the evening, and for 30 minutes in the bedroom). This will constitute 75% of my use. If this is a dominant use case, I would love to have this become my remote with a guide, and a view of the content on the DVR, but it is lacking IR/RF, so it can’t control my devices and it is even lacking the ability to control AppleTV or Front Row.

  24. Macs4All says:

Not having a front faced camera for Skype is kindda deal breaker for me. The other thing is that I would like to know if it’s going to have GPS built in like iPhone. It would be nice if you take it on the road, pay for 3G, and use it to access navigation and maps.

As far as design goes, that thick black bezel around screen is bothering me somewhat. It would look better if the screen was a bit more extended to the edges. I’m not sure if they made it that way so it wouldn’t interfere with screen when you are holding it. In that case I’d understand that thick bezel.

  25. Rody says:

Definitely not in its current form… I’m not even excited about the thing (unusual for a new Apple product. Even Apple TV gave me a tad of excitement when it was announced).

The fact that it has a large screen which can be used to do serious documents editing among other things, and yet still lacks an essential feature like multitasking is a huge turn off… Also why a device that has such a great photos app doesn’t have a camera at all, a front facing camera would’ve made sense… Finally, this is the one Apple product that I really can’t think of one good reason to shell money for:

iMac/Mac Pro – Great desktop computers
Macbook/Macbook Pro – Great line of laptops
iPod Classic/Nano/Shuffle – Great portable multimedia players
iPhone/iTouch – Great internet devices (which do phone calls in case of the iPhone)
Apple TV – Good for getting your iTunes library on your TV. Made way better with Boxee.

And finally: iPad – Other then eBooks – NOTHING… And eBooks isn’t that big of a deal for me. At least not yet… I still actually enjoy the smell of paper when I do have the tome to read.

Again, the biggest gripe I have about the iPad is the fact that a device that’s supposed to be better than laptops in some tasks lacks the most basic feature in any modern computing system – multitasking. If that feature was there this post might have went a bit different…

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

It’s less than ten inches of display – you just flip between your apps – how on earth would you have windows from multiple apps arranged on this thing in a practical way.

It is a far better internet device than the iPhone or iPod – it has a bigger screen – that makes it the hands down winner. It’s a better internet device than my laptop – it’s focussed on this one thing – i haven’t got a device frying my lap that’s too cumbersome to take out and hold while bored on a journey, or in need of some info while out and about. I’d imagine the start up time on this thing will be incredibly fast – so again, an advantage over a laptop.

If you don’t see the need for one, you don’t need one – don’t buy one. A lot of us will be buying this for exactly what it’s designed for. Can’t wait.

      • Rody says:

You don’t need a big screen in order to do multitasking (see Palm Pre / Nexus One). Again, when a product lets you utilize an application suite like iWork (which Apple made a big deal of in their presentation) and then doesn’t let you run more than one app at the same time – said product is lacking. When you want to use Pages to write a document then add a spreadsheet to said document via Numbers, some of the necessary info for that document/spreadsheet/keynote is probably somewhere on the internet – so you need to launch Safari, and a portion of that document might be tucked in some email – so on you go to launch Mail… Do you realize how many times I have to press the Home button, and then tap the app I want to launch and then tap again to go back to the original app I was using?! And that’s only one scenario.

Multitasking was not that big of a deal on the iPhone when it first came out (it is now because of the variety of apps you can use on the device AND because other companies perfected it already so I don’t see why Apple can’t), but on a device as big and powerful as the iPad – it is.

I can’t see how the tablet even compares to a laptop for web browsing… Yes it has touch display going for it – which is great. But a web browser that doesn’t do flash? And I don’t know about you, but my Macbook Pro stays in sleep mode all day, everywhere. So whenever I need to browse the web I open the lid – it takes less than 5 seconds to comeback from sleep and Firefox (with flash) is there for me.

I have nothing against people who want to buy this device. It’s just the first time I really feel that Apple has announced a product that doesn’t give me even a shred of excitement – at least not for now.

  26. 9to5Mac Noob says:

… you guys are all very funny, you all say you want this or that… truth is, you’re buying one when it comes out. You just don’t know it yet. The content (via App store)) and price points make it too compelling not to. Besides, you have 60-90 days ro rationalize it :-) Oh, and yes, I will then get a 2nd or 5rd generation when even more funcyions are avail at same price points.

I wonder for all the post here that say they are not getting one, it they said the same about the iPhone when it came out?

  27. 9to5Mac Noob says:

A front facing camera would be an ergonomic nightmare – to hold this thing up steady so that it’s not looking up your nose while talking would make your arms ache in about five minutes. This isn’t a web-conferencing device.

re. Flash – I see no reason why flash won’t run on this – i’m sure Adobe will port it, and apple wouldn’t stand in their way. HOWEVER. In all the demos given by SJ, the flash content which was missing was only adverts, not content, which accounts for about 80% of non-video flash content. Ads and pointless animations. Video shouldn’t be encoded in flash – where youtube leads, others will follow. HTML 5 will kill flash video, it’s only a matter of time til hulu and others join the party and enjoy better quality video with better compression technology.

    • Hypopraxia says:

      Bro,

You’ve got it spot on with your analysis of Flash and the web. Standards peeps! That’s what I like seeing, standards. The people hammering away at the meme that the full internet = Flash are flaimbaiters, pure and simple. Flash is a crufty, dilapidated, unstable, resource hogging piece of crap. The world would be better off if it died quickly. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be with us for a while longer yet.

As far as inclusion of a front facing camera, I think having one of them front facing and one of them rear facing would be sick. I have this strange inkling that is might be better for video-conferencing than one might suppose. I’m very interested in what the jailbreakers are going to do with this device after having it in their hands for all of a month. I’m fairly certain that all of their experience with exploiting the iPhone will be useful (if not directly applicable) in their efforts to jailbreak the iPad.

By the by, I was watching the keynote and found it funny when Steve called the iPad, iPod. Whoops! Didn’t Apple contest the trademark from Fujitsu or something for the term iPad because it sounded too much like iPod? Ehh… [whistling guy with a hammer]

I’ll be waiting for the next vers. First, camera is a most! second, for a toy that big I need memory equal to it, for 16 and 32 I can get an iphone cheaper, true not the same, but still, the price is way to high, I was thinking of 350 or 399 but 500 is a bit to much for a kool gadget :D for 500 I can save a little and get a laptop, with the camera and more hard drive space, and a bigger screen! so nop for the moment, still need more :D like hey how about running some real apps like adobe, for this needs more ram and a bigger processor, and we’ve got our selves an ipad to paint, draw, create! :D I was hoping for a leopard like experience on it, use it not just for fun but for work as well that would be cool! Still I’ll wait.

  29. wickedjv says:

Why I don’t buy one (yet):

    • No USB, why the hell would I buy another keyboard? My Apple iMac’s keyboard is just fine, I don’t need the clutter of a second one, the tablet dock could include 2 USB-ports which would solve this problem.
    • I don’t like LCD-screens for reading, it really tires my eyes. Hybrid screen would solve this (Pixel Qi-like screen).
A short web article OK, but books?
    • No front camera, video chat would be great on a tablet.
    • No tethering through iPhone, you need to buy the 3G-version + pay for 3G-service on your iPhone and iPad, just ridiculous.

I would definitely buy it if it does everything it does now and could be used a digital sketch book. Vector and pixel exportable to Illustrator and Photoshop. With a wacom-like pen, finger-painting just doesn’t feel natural.

But like it is now I would only use it to browse the web comfortably and occasionally watch a movie, but $499 is just too expensive for just that. And even then you couldn’t surf everywhere, you’ll need to buy at least the $629 version.

    • 9to5Mac Noob says:

It does have USB and you don’t have to buy another keyboard, your existing bluetooth keyboard will work just fine.

This thing will have the same price point in the UK as an iPhone, give or take – and I don’t want an iphone – this thing is far more useful to me.

“No tethering through iPhone, you need to buy the 3G-version + pay for 3G-service on your iPhone and iPad, just ridiculous.”

Or just use the N wireless technology built in, as most homes, coffee shops and city centres are rapidly becoming wi-fi hot spots. 3G is slow and clunky and not a necessity. Even train companies in the UK are offering free onboard wi-fi right now Besides within a month or two, these things will be hacked and tethering just fine.

      • wickedjv says:

Nope, no USB, not on iPad, nor on iPad dock. There is an USB-accessory for digital camera’s, but if it will work with my USB-keyboard,… And why as accessory?

Maybe in the UK you have free wifi almost everywhere, but in other countries you don’t have free wifi on the bus, train, coffee shops,… 3G isn’t that slow and clunky at all and it’s great not having to search for a wifi-hotspot. With tethering, owning an iPhone and a iPad would make more sense.

Now it’s more like choosing between iPad+a cheaper camera-phone or an iPhone. Owning both doesn’t make a lot of sense (accept when you can buy whatever you want off course).

Might get the cheapest 3g after launch, otherwise I know what I’m asking for for Christmas next year. Had it delivered with a forward facing camera (still in shock, use skype/aim all the time) and either a full OS OR multitasking, I would’ve waited in line on day one. 2nd gen will be tits for sure, I’m thinking the lack of the camera was to help keep the cost low but damn, that is just such a deal breaker, can’t ignore it.

  32. 9to5Mac Noob from EU says:

I was so totally going to buy the iPad, it has some features i really like. I’ve been on hold with buying an Amazon Kindle because I felt that the upcoming iPad would fit my needs better. And now I read that iBooks will only be available in US at launch time. So this totally screws my plan of getting one of these.
I guess iBooks will be an other epic failure for non US citizens as well as movies and tv shows for iTunes. Been promised for ages for European countries but nothing so far. And quite frankly I don’t feel like waiting another 2+ years until the iBooks is available outside US. Amazon here I come with my credit card.

I was very disappointet to learn that the iPad did not come with a front facing camera. It was mandatory. It is a stupid, stupid misjudgement of Apple. It is like selling a Rolls Royce without wheels. I was very ready to buy, but now it is out of the question. All the other benefits doses not compensate for the omission of a camera. Almost a nice try, but not nice enough.

  37. 9to5Mac Noob says:

i like the iPad/iphone OS well enough, but I see no reason the iPad couldn’t have os X and run iphone and ipad apps inside of os X. I am also bothered by the lack of at least an isight type front camera and the relative small amount of memory. I love what it does, but I’m not yet convinced it’s a fully adequate replacement for a netbook.

  38. 9to5Mac Noob says:

    Not without a camera . . . shame ;-(

[Other] I’ve got to have a hands-on with it before I make up my mind. As is, the iPad will easily fit into what I want it to do, but a Hands-on will let me figure out if it will do a few things I’d like it to.

I don’t really care about a camera either. And multi-tasking, who cares. It would be nice, but then you are right back to being distracted. In this way, serious work can get done because it helps you focus. This is a good thing. And I hate flash. I love this thing.

  41. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I love the iPad for what it is not for what it isn’t.

I think it’s going to do a great job.

  42. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I don’t think I’m sold on it yet. Like many of you, I think I’ll wait a generation or two. However, what blew my mind was going home after work yesterday and showing it to my wife, who’s not particularly “into” computers and gadgets. She immediately fell in love with it and wants on for work since she’s always driving around and visiting homes as a social worker. Ha! Who would have guessed!?! So, maybe there’ll be one in my house before too long.

Jobs often hits the nail on the head for me. I won’t really be able to tell if it is “like holding the internet in your hands” or if the responsiveness is remarkable, until I hold it in my hands. The iPhone was much more than the sum of it’s parts… much better for me than all the smart phones I tried (old generation).

I look forward to getting a Wi-Fi & particularly seeing how it feels reading books.

I’ll buy only when iPad gets a camera.

of course…if the conversion EUR/USD is respected for european apple stores!

  47. Nikki says:

So what, really, are the differences between the iPad and an iPhone or iPod Touch? Other than its a lot heavier with a larger screen

  48. 9to5Mac Noob says:

If this is supposed to replace netbooks then what is with the sh*tty memory? It should be 64GB minimum, then 128 an 256. Not really impressed with this thing at all, it just looks like a little toy you can show off to people. Looking forward to iPhone 4G though, it’s gonna be a beast.

  49. 9to5Mac Noob says:

I think this has potential if you can get past the ipad jokes.

However, I wont buy until 2nd gen comes out or maybe 3rd

  50. Apple Obsessed says:

I think the iPad would be the ultimate peice of technology to own; I would buy one in a second if I could afford it. My birthday is in September, so you know what I’m thinking.;) My original plan was to ask for the iPod 4th gen. when it comes out in Sep. because of the features it is said to have, such as a still and video camera. I totally love the iPad now that i went to apple’s website and took a semi- tour of it. Help me decide! Im leaning towards the iPad.

    Help!!

hi there were picking up 4 units of ipads the hole family wants one

  52. 9to5Mac Noob says:

    this looks awesome. cant wait

  53. 9to5Mac Noob says:

the ipad 2nd gen needs to have two usb ports then you could sync your ipod with it and transfer data off a flash drive.

  54. 9to5Mac Nub says:

There are a few reasons I will not be purchasing this device. 1; Where the hell is the front facing camera!?!? that would make this thing a huge seller. 2: they need to make some type of stylus which would work on this and iphones, so that you can take notes in your own handwriting, or even make detailed doodles. 3: no disk drive?!?!? 4: 64gb is the most??? so this is just a big ipod touch… 5: it should come with Garage band. Overall i would love to see this become more of a computer than just a big ipod. the 2nd gen im sure will be much better and so i shall wait.

  55. 9to5Mac Noob says:

Im going to wait for the second gen… they left out too many things

  56. Im in love says:

I am a geek and I just bought this and I love it. I bought the first generation Iphone, then sold it the week before the new generation came out and sold it for what I paid for my new phone. People are always wanting Apple products and will pay for them if they are the older versions. When the 2nd generation comes out I will sell this one and put that money toward my new one. I also did that for the 2nd generation Iphone to the 3gs and it works.

Plus all the apps you can use with the Iphone apps. I love it and I will say yes its great. Its will also help my photography business because I can have all my picts at my finger tips right from my site. A +++ from me. I am also a girl who loves technology and has bought many laptops and sold them to buy new ones. I sold my laptop to buy this and at first I was a little worried but so far I am NOT dissapointed. Its great, apps for anything you want:P
