Just under two weeks after the release of Snow Leopard comes 10.6.1 via Software Update or standalone updater here.  It includes the latest version of Flash, which had been an issue with the original Snow Leopard release.

How did the update go for y'all? (we had a slow restart).

The 10.6.1 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including fixes for:
compatibility with some Sierra Wireless 3G modems
an issue that might cause DVD playback to stop unexpectedly
some printer compatibility drivers not appearing properly in the add printer browser
an issue that might make it difficult to remove an item from the Dock
instances where automatic account setup in Mail might not work
an issue where pressing cmd-opt-t in Mail brings up the special characters menu instead of moving a message
Motion 4 becoming unresponsive

It drops to single user and installs everything, then restarts. The restart is a little slow, and when you log in, it sits there grinding for a minute or so, getting the last things in place.

Then, it's like it was before. I'm sure my typing of this post felt... snappier :)

Exactly the same scenario here on unibody mbp 15".

Still got the 4 finger gesture weirdness. I'm not happy:(

Apple has the one-finger gesture working for all its customers.

LOL

The update was very fast on the MBP. Running and doing fine...

9.8 MB on 2 machines...

Wooeee that was fast ! Thanks for paying attention to customers Apple, this is the way to do it !

nothing slow here on restart. updated IMAC and PowerBook Pro, both went smooth as my baby's …

PowerBook Pro? You mean MacBook Pro? Snow Leopard doesn't run on PPC.

Why is there still not a fix for the GeForce cards being sluggish straight off the bat?!

iMacs suffer real bad from this problem!

im suprised someone hasent made a microsoft comment yet

I don't see MICROSOFT releasing Snow Leopard updates! WHAT A TERRIBLE COMPANY.

My late 2006 iMac got the 9.8MB update, everything went smooth and the dock no longer crashes 25% of the time I use Exposé. So I'm happy.

Still no firmware updates to fix the lag on Nvidia GeForce GT 120/130 cards etc.

Lags when opening dashboard, running expose, spaces fast users switching etc, basically all core animation, what the hell is taking so long!

You mean besides coding and testing, and all the things that go into releasing software in a company the size of Apple. That's assuming they've even replicated the issue and are working on it.

That's why I always do a clean install on an external drive and test for compatibility issues.

For example, the contacts in my address book don't appear and my iCal denies me access. Still not ready for prime time.

Maybe the problem is the user??

Still no translation of the address book for the french user...
That's kind of a bug but no fix for that...

Hopefully this will fix my issue with safari not responding for about a minute after I wake my MBP from sleeping.

So, I went onto appple.com and I was thinking about buy a new macbook air, so i clicked on it and I wanted to change the hard drive, why couldn't I? Are they coming out with a new one or is it just impossible?

My chair has a squeaky wheel, should I oil it or replace the chair?

I don't have any quantitative data, but the network performance seems to be much improved over what I was getting with 10.6. (2.66 GHz 15" MBPro). Seems they made some behind the scenes fixes in that area as well.

Seems to be running cooler for me. No other noticeable issues. Solid as usual.

Safari opens before the bounce is done!
It seems quicker throughout especially noticeable when visiting a topsite site.

I didn't have any problems with SL pre the update apart from Mail was slow to send emails (on 2006 MBP).

I was given the 9.8MB update, took just a couple of minutes to download and install.

Mail fixed! No longer takes ages to send emails. :)

Happy customer.

DVD playback still the same. Update did nothing.

roughly half a min restart 4 me, after installation (and i;m on a mini runnin snow)

Hi all,

After the patch 10.6.1 my boot up got as long as 40 sec (before us to be 27 - 29 seconds from boot sound) and my shut down in 10.6.1 up to 5-10 seconds ( used to be 1- 1 1/2 seconds). I just erased HDD and went back to 10.6.0.
Programs I'm using: iLife, Skype, iWork(trial version). That's it, just did a fresh install about 1 hour ago...MBP with Skype installed nothing else, boots up in 22-23 seconds from chimes and shut down it's back to 1-1 1/2. There are now updates installed, of any kind...

Please feel free to leave comments and tips, send to atanase@hotmail.co.uk

Hello all. My issue is I upgraded to 10.6.1 on my unibody MacBook Pro (3.06 GHz, 4 GB). I used to be able to close my MBP while logged in and simply open it up and it would come up. Now I open it up and the screen stays blank. Nothing ever comes up. I did a hard restart and apparently had the issue stated above about taking forever to boot. Thanks.
