Apple just released 10.6.2 so go hit that Software Update (unless you are on a Atom-based Netbook that is).  500MB later, how are you rolling?  Snappy™?

Also, Apple released an update for the Apple Wireless keyboards released last month and security updates for older systems.  From Apple's notes:

  • an issue that might cause your system to logout unexpectedly
  • a graphics distortion in Safari Top Sites
  • Spotlight search results not showing Exchange contacts
  • a problem that prevented authenticating as an administrative user
  • issues when using NTFS and WebDAV file servers
  • the reliability of menu extras
  • an issue with the 4-finger swipe gesture
  • an issue that causes Mail to quit unexpectedly when setting up an Exchange server
  • Address Book becoming unresponsive when editing
  • a problem adding images to contacts in Address Book
  • an issue that prevented opening files downloaded from the Internet
  • Safari plug-in reliability
  • general reliability improvements for iWork, iLife, Aperture, Final Cut Studio, MobileMe, and iDisk
  • an issue that caused data to be deleted when using a guest account

Kernel Panics

Will it stop these damned kernel panics I keep having?

HW issue?

96

I support a 20 person office full of Mac's running SL.  I have yet to experience any kernel panics, and no one in the office has reported any kernel panics.

However, I did have a PPC iMac back in the day that suffered through a ton of kernel panics (like 2 a week!).  It sounds similar to your issue.  After months of suffering, I ended up replacing the aftermarket RAM that was in there and I never saw a kernel panic again.

If you're seeing a lot of kernel panics, it is most likely either a hardware related issue or 3rd party low-level software issue (like a device driver).

Well, the only RAM I have is the ones that came with the machine, so it very well could be a software problem.

Although I did read that there was a problem with some graphics drivers in the OS.

Kernal Panics seem to come in waves and leave as unexpectedly as they happen.

Slow Install

Maybe it's just me, but the install seemed to take an extra long time. So far, so good otherwise though. Unibody MBP 2.53 Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM with an admittedly slow 5400RPM 320GB drive.

Now, if they can release an update that gives support for a middle mouse click on the magic mouse, so I feel that wasn´t a complete waste of money, I would be very happy. Some times I don´t get apple, the mouse can support it, they are able to make it, and yet they will probably never do it...despite everyone crtiticizing them for it...it´s like the smilies on the iphone, people want it and the phone has it, but still you have to find a workaround to add it unless you live in Japan...Next: Middle mouse click on the Magic Mouse - only in Greenland.
Sorry for wandering off topic :D

More problems

On my initial upgrade install of snow leopard it messed with system fonts and ruined fucntionality in a few apps including iCal.

With this latest update those problems are back.

To me. Snow Leopard = Vista. If i could upgrade to Leopard, i would.

So far seems fine for me.

So far seems fine for me.  Fixed the green flickering screen issue in iPhoto (now only occurs very occasionally rather than all the time).  Only got a 200MB download on my old MacBook Pro.

Now that 10.6.2 is out, can anyone dig up some info about MacbookPro 6,1 and 6,2?

Freakin' out!

After the update...

NO SOUND!!! ZERO!!!

MUTE!!!

Volume is not gray for me it's just as it always is but there is no sound even if the volume is at its top.

Why? Oh why? What's your four-oh-four Apple?

DO NOT update if you have a MacBookPro (or some of them... happens at least top 4,1 and 5,1 don't know the others)

My MBP 5.1 upgraded just fine, sounds and all. I know this for a fact because I use Awaken as a alarm clock on my MBP and it went off and woke me up just on time.

Sound

10.6.2 Does something on the core system that it seems to reset some preference on the system preference, by the way I'm getting a better use of memory ram.  Go to system preference and enable your output again for my speakers and that work for me.  So far the update has been excellent.

Update small, smooth - still no spotlight on exchange

47

My update file was about 157M only - everything went quick and smooth as it should. Spotlight still does not find my Exchange contacts in address book, though. Does not seem it has to rebuild its index from scratch. Removing and Re-Establishing Exchange account data in address book did not help. Any suggestions?

Server-side setting too.

85

Remember that your corporate exchange server needs to enable the service for your account for spotlight to attach to exchange.  Lots of admins turn off the client-side search capabilities because they're fearful that it'll put too much load on their exchange servers.

You might want to talk to your exchange admin.

same problem with exchange persists even after 10.6.2

97

i am still having the same issue even though my contacts have synced perfectly with exchange after installing snow leopard since day one. i am also considering whether we have to rebuild the spotlight index.

RE: no sound.  Is there a red light comming out of you headphones port? If so, then the computer thinks that there are headphones plugged in.  Take a Q-tip, remove the cotton, insert it into the headphone jack and clean off the dust and grime that is in there
